The Beaches
Over 400 beaches dot the Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines of Morocco, most offering great swimming and sunbathing. Short day trips deliver you to ancient coastal cities perched above golden sand beaches that stretch for miles.
The Country
Morocco is a beautiful country steeped in history. From the ancient Berbers to the Romans, Arabs, Spaniards, Portuguese, and French, Morocco bears the reminders of each occupier through its architecture, languages and culture.
Even though relatively small in size, Morocco offers a stunning variety of landscapes and activities: camel trekking in the Sahara Desert, hiking the Atlas Mountains, scuba diving and sailing the coastal seas, and sightseeing in the legendary cities of Casablanca, Tangier and Marrakesh.
The Low Cost of Living
Property prices in Morocco are very competitive at the moment and the cost of living is low, making it possible for foreigners to enjoy a high standard of living here. As well, capital gains taxes are relatively low (0 – 20%) , no property taxes are charged the first five years, and there is no inheritance tax.
The Open Door to Tourism
Low-cost direct flights are available from most major European centres to Morocco. Plus a growing number of budget tour packages are also helping to tantalize travelers.
Construction of new hotels and developments as part of the country's multi-billion dollar initiative called "Vision 2010" announce to the world that Morocco is poised to become a tourism and investment hot spot. Properties are predicted to rise in value in the years ahead as this spirit of optimism takes hold and Morocco raises its infrastructure to world class levels.
New Developments: Plan Azur
Plan Azur is the resort development phase of "Vision 2010". Plan Azur calls for the creation of six new coastal resorts, five on the Atlantic and one on the Mediterranean. Among them, they will feature golf courses, marinas, luxury hotels and residential properties. (First Property Choice has special expertise in the Plan Azur developments. The Benefits of an Emerging Market
Morocco is a popular emerging market for property investors, especially Western Europeans who are just a short flight away. Mid-range to luxury real estate can still be purchased for much less than other destinations but is expected to increase in value as economic improvements come on stream and tourism numbers increase. Those purchasing rental properties will likely experience strong occupancy levels as the growth in tourism is foreseen to continue well into the future.
The Tunnel
Discussed and dreamed about for decades, construction on a tunnel linking Spain with Morocco is scheduled to begin soon. When completed, the 40-kilometre tunnel will run under the Strait of Gibraltar, linking Tangier, Morocco with Tarifa, Spain and opening up a brand new flow of tourism traffic between Europe and North Africa.
